Coachella Recap

So I was planning to write this post sooner, but I've been so busy these past few weeks, so here it is, for your listening pleasure, and your advisory information... the best of Coachella 2013!

Having been my first time at the festival, I was of course very excited, and although I could not bring any detachable-lens cameras on the grounds, I tried to capture as much as I could with our smart phones to share with all of you! :-)The best way I could describe Coachella is that it is the Disneyland of music festivals. Upon entering the festival grounds, you’re greeted by an array of large animated robots (like a giant snail, mechanic praying mantis, and a life-size humanoid robot you can converse and interact with), a spectacle of grand art pieces, and numerous musical artists among a series of stages and tents. At night, palms are lit up from below with colorful, iridescent lights, the giant mechanical snail shell glows as it roams the park, and the famous Coachella Ferris-wheel and surrounding DJ/dance tents are lit up.

For those of you planning to go to Coachella for years to come, here are a few things I learned (or were at least, strongly re-affirmed in my brain) to help you have a comfortable, successful Coachella experience:

Wear comfortable shoes, bring Band-Aids for blisters, wear lots of sunscreen, have a good SPF lip-balm, drink LOTS of water, use the restrooms BEFORE your favorite shows, visit an ATM beforehand and outside of the park  to save yourself the service fees, dress comfortably (for VERY warm weather), wear sneakers if you plan to be close to the stage (being stepped on repeatedly with bare feet is not advised) show up 30 minutes to an hour or two before the show (depending on the artist) if you want to be in front, charge your cell-phones, and bring a scarf/mask/t-shirt/anything to cover your face with to prevent yourself from inhaling too much smoke. This goes for smokers and non-smokers alike. I got a little cough for not properly preparing, so if you want to breathe easily, bring a fashionable scarf or bandana that can double as an air purifier.

And finally, for those of you who couldn’t make it out to the festival this year (you saved yourself a lot of money, crowds, sleep, sweat, and feet blisters by the way) or for those of you who simply want to re-live the Coachella magic, here are a few playlists I put together. Enjoy! :)

Coachella Day 2 - Sahara

Here's the outfit I wore on the second day of Coachella; I'm wearing a white shealth dress from and leather necklace from Chycas Boutique. It wasn't until I got home I realized wearing white probably wasn't the wisest idea, seeing as my dress was a shade darker and covered in a light layer of dirt.. Oops! Despite the discoloration of my dress, I was definitely grateful I wore something lightweight and light in color to deflect some of the heat from the sun!

Coachella Day 1 - 40 Day Dream

I had a wonderful time this weekend spent in Indio, California at the annual Coachella music festival! I'll be posting more about the festival later--pictures, favorite musicians, and a few things I learned that I'll definitely  keep in mind for future 3-day music festivals! But for now, here's a few pictures of the outfits I wore. I loved the brown tones, feathery and animal like print of the dress and accessories. I'm wearing a dress from Bebe, a hat I got a while back from Forever 21, and feather necklace from Chycas Boutique. I was definitely glad I wore a hat, as it saved me from the scorching heat of the sun!
I also really enjoyed seeing all the different styles and fashion of my fellow Coachella goers (I"ve never seen so many floral headbands and cat t-shirts in one place! haha). What's your favorite musical festival style? :-)

Chestnut & White

If you've followed my blog for long, you'll know that I'm a sucker for lace. Which is why I fell in love with this lace applique dress. I paired it up with a brown braided belt and some brown strappy heels from ALDO to complete the look.

Coral Red

I love wearing maxi dresses on a hot, summer-like day. I was particularly drawn to the coral red and blue combination of colors of this maxi dress, and it was perfect transition dress for strolling along the side-streets and shops, to relaxing on the beach. I hope you all had a lovely weekend. What did you do this weekend?
